About Me

My photo
We met May 22, 2010 and enjoy going through life together even on the bad days because they make the best ones even better! We enjoy cake and going on walks. Contradictory, we know. We ride horses, play chess, and try to make room for homework.

Opportunities

BYU held a career and internship fair in the gym. It was required that you dress up and bring a resume but I didn't count on going so I was not worried. Luckily, my class was released early. I went unprepared but decided it was better to meet and greet then to have nothing at all. My two majors are English and Secondary Eduction but the selection was thin. A majority of the booths were food production ie. potatoes, or government such as naval shipyard, army, etc. It didn't matter to me what was at the booth but instead what kind of candy they were giving out. My alternative motives paid off. Byron Consulting was giving out the flavored tootsies which are rare. So I snagged a few and eavesdropped on the representatives discussion with another student. I had no clue what the company was about but I figured I would ask specific questions about the company and his experience rather than admit my ignorance and be spoon fed. After savoring 2 tootsies he addressed me asking if I had questions.

The best tactic I decided was to grab the bull by the horns, and begin with his personal experience. He was impressed with my specific questions and asked if I had a resume. I explained my situation and he forgave me, then requested I return with one. Needless to say, the company is offering a paid internship and someone with my background. The major plus is that they are local and I wont have to travel far to the office. If I am hired I will be the copy editor and work with websites on their content. :D Tomorrow I will go to their office submitting references and a cover page. :D I have to beat the competition to the punch so I decided to react immediately. :)
