Tragic Villain?

I have been a Batman fan for a while. But I have come across an old character that just might replace him. The Riddler has become a new person to me, since I am researching him for my English class. I am writing my research paper on the question of whether the Riddler is a tragic hero or villain. I will be trying to prove that he is merely a tragic hero categorized wrongly, due to the overemphasized stereotype of a villain. I have been looking at his background and interactions with other characters in the DC comic books; he has proven to me a more heroic play in the story. But then I may just be biased. Sadly, Batman isn't looking so cool with his dark cave, indispensable cars, and black outfit. Whereas, with the Riddler you have a challenge of wits, a crazed friend and someone who likes to solve mysteries. I am actually thinking of getting rid of my Batman shirt for a Riddler shirt. I am excited to do the research for this project! :D Who do you think is better the Riddler or Batman?
